Who We Are

Black Liberation Media is a collective of Black/ Afrikan organizers, journalists, academics, and media personalities serving Black/ Afrikan masses seeking to further grow in their understanding of themselves, their histories, and the Afrikan world through entertainment and news. Black Liberation Media is a media extension for  Black/ Afrikan people  in the struggle for liberation.

The collective mission is to assist our audience in the development of a shared understanding and pursuit of liberation via news, political education and entertainment.

In 2025, Black Liberation Media (BLMedia) was restructured as a member LLC. As part of that process all members of the collective agreed to organize as a member cooperative, and confirmed an operating agreement on July 31, 2025. Our cooperative is guided by that operating agreement, and each member has an equal individual vote, and earns a share of our revenue.

More specifically, within that operating agreement, the Cooperative Enterprise is outlined as organized and committed to conducting business as a cooperative enterprise. A cooperative is a business that (1) is owned and controlled by its Members and (2) operates for the benefit of its Members.

Not all members of the BLMedia Collective are members of the cooperative, but all members of the cooperative are members of the collective. However, the cooperative allows input from members of our collective prior to decision making (voting), and all are guided by our Principles of Unity and Code of Ethics.
